APRIL BOOK REVIEWER AWARD: @carriereadsthem_all

Will she like my book? She’s a book reviewer. Maybe she’s a literary snob? Maybe she only gives four star reviews? There are some book readers who ONLY give four star reviews. I would rather have a one star review than a four star review. A four star review is like studying for weeks to ace a test only to walk away with an A- or worse. A four star review is like getting a B.

I did not go to school to pass the class. I went to school to become a master. I wanted to be smart. I wanted to be successful. When I was in college I took a class called Writing 101. We were made to write an persuasive essay about the importance of our current grading system. Are letter grades really important? Do we go to school to learn or to earn letter grades on a report card? Why do we need to measure learning?

I wrote my professor a note, “I will learn everything you have to teach me as long as I get an A in your class. I don’t want anything fucking with my GPA.”

I dropped out of college soon after earning an A in my writing class. My GPA was 3.95. I couldn’t stay in school without a perfect score. I love formal education, but it’s never been a fiscally responsible choice for me. I dropped out of college for a plethora of reasons. The road less traveled was one of them. Avoiding student loan debt was another.

I am forty-four years old. I do not currently have ten-million dollars, but I do have a ten-million dollar plan AND a rubber chicken. I also have sixteen years of business experience and FIVE STAR book review written by Carrie Shields @carriereadsthem_all.
